How can I transfer contacts between iPhones?

If you own a new Apple iPhone device and need to transfer contacts from your old iPhone to a new iPhone, it can be accomplished by following the instructions below.

  1. From the Home screen of your current phone, tap Settings.
  2. Tap the Apple profile (e.g., Joe Smith) at the top of the Settings menu.
  3. Tap iCloud. If prompted, enter the Apple ID and password then tap Sign In.
  4. Tap the switch to turn on the app (e.g., Mail, Contacts, etc.). that you want to transfer information from.
  5. If prompted, select one of the following:
  6. Delete from My iPhone
  7. Keep on My iPhone
  8. Tap iCloud Backup.
  9. Tap the iCloud Backup switch to on
  10. If prompted, tap OK.
  11. Tap Back Up Now to immediately add or remove data from iCloud. A Wi-Fi connection is needed to start the backup.
  12. Tap iCloud (located in the upper-left).
  13. Tap Apple ID (located in the upper-left).
  14. Tap Settings (located in the upper-left).
  15. Tap Wi-Fi.
  16. Make sure the WiFi switch (located in the upper-right) is turned on.
  17. From the Choose the Network section, then tap the preferred network.
  18. If prompted, enter the appropriate password then tap Join (located in the upper-right).
  19. After activating your new phone, while on the Apps & Data screen during the initial setup process, tap Restore from iCloud Backup.
  20. Using your Apple ID, sign in to iCloud.
  21. To continue, read the Terms and Conditions then tap Agree (located in lower-right).

Tap a backup file from the list displayed to complete the restore process.
