Do you have a T-Mobile phone thats locked and need to get it unlocked? Good news! T-Mobile is now required by law to unlock any device that is paid off at the customers request.
Because of a recent law passed on February 11th, 2015, carriers are now required to unlock any device per customer request given the phone is paid off and the account has been current.
T-Mobile Customers - If you are already a customer of T-Mobile and wish to unlock your device, you have two options to unlock your phone. The first option is to fill out an device unlock request through the T-Mobile website. After you complete the request, you'll receive an email stating that the unlock has been requested. If eligible for a device unlock, you'll be notified and T-Mobile will begin the process of unlocking your phone. Another way to unlock a T-Mobile phone is to simply contact T-Mobile and request to the customer service representative that you'd like to unlock your phone. If you meet the eligibility requirements, the phone will be unlocked and you can expect the phone to be fully unlocked within 48 business hours.
Non T-Mobile Customer - If you happened to purchase a locked T-Mobile phone from a 3rd party and wish to get it unlocked, there is a good chance that T-Mobile will not unlock your phone. This will result in you needing to find a service that will unlock your phone. We suggest searching on sites like Craigslist for a 3rd party unlocking service, but we must advise you to be cautious when using sites with less regulation.
